Sex Offender Treatment Provider Advisory Committee

Committee Information

Current Vacancies: 

  • Certified SOTP with a minimum of five years’ experience treating sex offenders (1)
  • Superior Court Judge (1)

Composition

The committee shall be compromised of seven members as follows:

  • One (1) superior court judge;
  • Three (3) certified SOTPs with a minimum of five years experience treating sex offenders;
  • One (1) mental health practitioner with experience treating victims of sexual assault;
  • One (1) defense attorney with experience representing persons charged with sex offenses; and
  • One (1) representative of the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.

The advisory committee advises the Secretary of Health on the implementation of laws, administration of the profession, and issues related to maintaining a workforce of certified sex offender treatment providers to meet the needs of Washington state.

Committee members serve six-year terms. No member, other than those representing the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), children, youth, and families (DCYF), and corrections (DOC), may serve more than two consecutive terms.
