The Washington State Department of Health is seeking applicants to serve on the Sex Offender Treatment Provider (SOTP) Advisory Committee. This committee plays a vital role in advising the Secretary of Health on the implementation of laws, administration of the profession, and workforce needs for certified sex offender treatment providers across the state.
Current Vacancies
The committee is currently accepting applications for the following positions:
- Mental health practitioner with experience treating victims of sexual assault
- Superior court judge.
Committee Composition
The advisory committee consists of seven members:
- One (1) superior court judge
- Three (3) certified SOTPs with at least five years experience treating sex offenders
- One (1) mental health practitioner with experience treating victims of sexual assault
- One (1) defense attorney with experience representing persons charged with sex offenses
- One (1) representative of the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys.
The advisory committee advises the Secretary of Health on the implementation of laws, administration of the profession, and issues related to maintaining a workforce of certified sex offender treatment providers to meet the needs of Washington state.
Term Length and Eligibility
Committee members serve six-year terms. Members representing the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF), and Department of Corrections (DOC) may serve beyond two consecutive terms, while all other members are limited to two consecutive terms.
