Rules in Progress

The rules writing process is open to the public. The public is welcome to take part in helping us write rules. Rules are also known as regulations, Washington Administrative Code, or WAC. The rule-making process includes public notices and workshops, and usually a public hearing before a rule becomes final.

Current rules in progress

1. Changes to Changes to National Certification, professions approved for alternate the path, and removing the HIV/AIDS training for the probationary license.

The Department of Health has amended WAC 246-811-070, WAC 246-811-076, and WAC 246-811-300 to reduce barriers to certification. See WSR 24-03-139 (PDF) which goes into effect on February 23, 2024

1. Health Equity Continuing Education

The Department has adopted health equity continuing education requirements as required in ESSB 5229, which went into effect on January 1, 2024.
