Essentials for Childhood hosts an ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and Resilience Statewide Community of Practice that puts that research into action. This community of practice is a network of leaders from across the state who are working to advance trauma and resilience informed systems, policies and approaches. It is a forum where participants learn together how to create capacity, foster resilience and address ACEs in our communities. We are building the capacity of the leaders who do this groundbreaking by providing a space for connection, support and learning together.
ACEs and Resilience Community of Practice Gatherings
Since spring 2018, the Community of Practice has hosted in-person or virtual gatherings about twice a year in different locations around the state. The gatherings are opportunities to learn from peers deeply engaged in the work of building resilience and reducing ACEs. Presentations and discussions highlight evidence-based practices and innovations. We create space for peer consultation. Participants gain tools and models to take back to their communities. Recent sessions have dived deeply into the lasting impacts of historical trauma and racism. We share lessons and themes from the events with state level leaders such as the Essentials for Childhood Steering Committee

ACEs & Resilience Webinar Series
We have hosted two webinar series since summer 2019. Webinars provide supplemental learning on research and practice for people who have attended our in-person gatherings. They also stand alone and engage people in the network who may not be able to attend all day events. Webinar topics are often inspired by needs and interests that bubble up in our events. They also highlight our partners' successful practices.
