Financial Assistance
Financial assistance programs are available for both HIV-positive and HIV-negative Washingtonians. There are also community programs available to help you look at different programs and apply for the ones that are right for you.
HIV-Positive
Early Intervention Program (EIP) is Washington States AIDS Drug Assistance Program. It is administered by the Washington State Department of Health in the HIV Client Services Office. Many services are available to assist enrollees with out of pocket costs for their HIV care, including:
- medical/lab
- mental health
- dental
- medications.
Enrollees must go to a contracted provider. Early Intervention Program

HIV-Negative
Washington State was first in the Nation to launch the Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Drug Assistance Program (PrEP DAP). The program offers assistance for enrollees for medical/lab and medications for access to PrEP. It is administered by the Washington State Department of Health in the HIV Client Services Office.
Enrollees are required to use Gilead Patient Assistance Programs (PAP) for their PrEP medication. Then, PrEP DAP can pay, as we are the payer of last resort.
However, PrEP DAP can pay the enrollees portion of PrEP-related medical and lab costs for enrollees who go to a contracted provider.
We recommend enrollees apply for PAP and PrEP DAP at the same time.
