SNAP Produce Rewards

Department of Health and Department of Social and Health Services are testing a new pilot program to make buying fruits and vegetables even easier for people who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits in Washington. Shoppers who use SNAP benefits to buy allowable fruits and vegetables from participating pilot retailers can get up to $50 per month put back onto their SNAP EBT card.

The pilot is available through participating retailers only. A list of participating locations is near the bottom of this webpage. Additional retailers may be added as the pilot program continues. Our website will stay current to show you where you can find participating retailers.

What is changing?

Previous versions of the programs, (SNAP Produce Match at grocery stores) and (SNAP Market Match at farmers markets), have used coupons and paper currency.

During the pilot, when you buy eligible fruits and vegetables from participating retailers, SNAP Produce Rewards will be put back onto your SNAP EBT card instantly. Once the money is put back on your SNAP EBT card, you can spend it like normal SNAP benefits at any SNAP retailer. You can get up to $50 per month put back onto your SNAP EBT card.

How it Works at the Farmer's Market

Use your SNAP benefits at participating farmer booths to buy fruits and vegetables. If your purchases are eligible, SNAP Produce Rewards will be automatically added back to your SNAP EBT card. Once the money is put back on your SNAP EBT card, you can spend it like normal SNAP benefits at any SNAP retailer.  Your receipt will show that you’ve received your SNAP Produce Reward.
