Health Care Professions and Facilities

The Department of Health, along with various boards and commissions, regulates more than 430,000 healthcare practitioners in 86 professions. We also regulate more than 7,000 health organizations and programs. This includes setting regulatory standards for licensed health providers in Washington, developing rules and policies and providing legislative analysis for all medical facilities, ensuring public safety, monitoring practitioner programs and making sure healthcare facilities meet federal and state building standards.
