Data Spotlight: Vaccinations and Pregnancy

Washington’s PRAMS data from 2021–2022 show that 2 in 5 pregnant people received at least a single COVID-19 vaccine dose.  Vaccinations increased in 2022 as concerns about vaccine safety and side effects decreased.

Provider Conversations Make a Difference

Providers have an important role in promoting COVID-19 vaccinations. A majority of pregnant people (59%) in the state trusted their providers for vaccine-related information. When asked about vaccine conversations with a health care worker, respondents said

Over 83% talked with a health care provider about the vaccine

Over 70% were recommended the vaccine by a provider

About 50% of patients were offered the vaccine

About 30% of patients were referred to another site for vaccination
