Policy Statement BOM 20-01 Continuing Education Requirements During the COVID-19 Response set to expire on December 31, 2022
Policy Statement BOM 20-01.6, which waives the hands on portion of continuing education, will expire on December 31, 2022. Beginning January 1, 2023, to renew their license, massage therapists will be required to complete the continuing education requirements as provided in WAC 246-830-475.
However, a massage therapist whose continuing education reporting date is after December 31, 2022, will not be found non-compliant with their continuing education if they obtain their continuing education hours in accordance with the allowances of the policy while it is in effect.
The Board of Massage in coordination with the Department of Health is proposing amendments to existing sections of the massage therapist rules to correct the names of the national examinations, clarify the training requirements for somatic education and intraoral massage education, and clarify and modernize the language in the equipment and sanitation rule and the hygiene rule. The CR-102 documents with the proposed rule language (PDF) were filed with the office of the Code Reviser on June 22, 2022, under WSR #22-13-179.
