Emergency Rules - Please read before applying for licensure

Effective October 25, 2024, there are emergency rules affecting licensing requirements. If you are applying after October 25, 2024, please review the emergency rules (PDF) to see how you may be affected.

Please note, our online application does not reflect the emergency rule changes. Though you may still apply online, you will need to complete an updated paper application for the portions that have changed. Our credentialing staff will reach out to you after completing intake of your online application and indicate which parts of the updated paper application you need to complete for the new changes.

Telehealth

Any psychologist providing services to a client located in Washington state must have one of the following (there are no exceptions):

  • a temporary practice permit
  • a full license issued by Washington state (for any reason, any length of time, etc.)
  • be an active participant of PSYPACT

The temporary permit has no fee, allows up to 90 calendar (not consecutive) days of psychological services, including telepsychology. You may apply online for a temporary permit.

Telehealth is allowed under the Washington state psychologist license. Review the telepsychology guidelines for further information.
