2025-2026 Respectful Perinatal Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Care Training Initiative

The Washington State Department of Health is offering hospitals a $5,000 reimbursement to support clinician education to improve care for pregnant and parenting individuals with SUD. This Respectful Perinatal SUD Care Training Initiative aims to train healthcare clinicians to deliver compassionate, stigma-free care to pregnant individuals with SUD, encouraging greater engagement with the healthcare system and improving perinatal outcomes.

2025 Maternal Health Innovations Program Grant Recipients

The Department of Health awarded 2 funding opportunities to improve maternal health in Washington. Congratulations to our recipients, The Hi•dubaɫ Baʔas (The Makah Birth House), Northwest Washington Indian Health Board, Big Bend Community College, and Washington State University College of Nursing! This funding will support American Indian and Alaska Native maternal health and expand rural nursing programs. Read more about the award recipients in our news release.


About the Collaborative

The WSPC is a volunteer group of public and private organizations, state agencies, health care providers, and community members committed to improving the health of Washington’s pregnant and postpartum people, their infants, and their families.

We work with a variety of partners to implement initiatives that improve perinatal health outcomes. Our work is based on recommendations from the Maternal Mortality Review Panel, best practice guidelines and research, and the needs of Washington families.
